KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO election will be held in this October with the first ever involving representation from the grassroots including UMNO branches based on amendments to the Constitution party.
Umno members who wish to compete have submit their nominations on Sept 21 2013 which is held throughout the country on last Saturday.
The nomination process for all posts are including the three wings at the central level was held at the Umno headquarters.
This is the first time UMNO was implementing the new method of election which is more transparent and democratic as followed the amendment's of party constitution back in 2009.
Election would be conducted in accordance with the amendments of party constitution which allows more of members to directly vote for the party (UMNO) leadership.

After the nomination process close on 5pm on last Saturday saw the two top positions in the party for the presidency and vice presidency remains held by the original members.
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak (president) and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (Deputy president) was maintaining their position and win uncontested as no members sent a form of nomination for both of the post.
Apart from the 150,000 members who will be voting for supreme council aspirants, 100,000 members from each of the party’s at three wings – Youth, Wanita and Puteri – will be eligible to vote for their respective movement leaders.
“This means that while we may not have as big a responsibility as the Election Commission, we will have to conduct our next party election with a much larger number of members eligible to vote,” Najib said.
For the upcoming election, UMNO deputy president said that disciplinary action would be taken against the candidates if they are found to violated the code of ethics during the election day.
According to him, the reminder is important to in view because many new faces are contesting in the party elections this time.
“I have asked the Umno Disciplinary Board chairman Tengku Tan Sri Ahmad Rithauddeen to explain thoroughly the content of the party election code of ethics,” he said.
Thus, all candidates contesting in the coming Umno elections should perform the 'Sumpah Laknat' oath as a move to check against money politics.
The election for committee members for all the three wings at the divisional and central levels would be held on October 12 while the divisional and Supreme Council (MT) elections would be held on October 19.
The Umno General Assembly 2013 would be held here from December 2 to 7.
